Shelter Projects thematic compilations
HAITI
10 years after the earthqake of 2010 that killed and injured many people, and displaced over 1.5 million people, we have compiled case studies of responses in Haiti for natural disasters from 1982 to 2012. The earthquake lead to a major humanitarian shelter relief and recovery operaton. The shelter response with its major urban components helped define how we respond in shelter to natural disasters today.
As always the primary responders were the affected people themselves. We would like to remember them.
We hope that these learnings will help you to improve responses in the future.
